When you see "Simplify 2 Amplify" does the word "Easy" cross your mind? I heard a sermon on fasting this morning that made me think about this question. The presenter said "whenever I am faced with two options (directions in his life) , the easy one is never from God. It's always the hard one, because God wants me to know I can't do it without Him". The easier choice is often the one that gives in to our desires, the world's culture, or sin. While the hard choice is full of self denial, humility, and obedience to God. This year ACP is shouting for us all to simplify 2 amplify God as we journey through this world. This is not an easy road in our culture. It's much easier to be quiet about God, clutter our lives with things, and follow the social norms, but this is not what Christ has called us to. As in Matthew 9:14-15 where the disciples are called out for not fasting in the manner of the current religious norm. Christ refutes not only at the end of this verse, but even several chapters before in Matthew 6:16-18. It would have been easier for Christ and his disciples to follow the norms, but Christ knew that the calling is for us to be set apart, a sacred and holy people, serving God not man.
